Geometric symbolism live on

“In Australia’s wine industry, there is nothing more iconic than Grange Hermitage. It was a pleasure, therefore, to have had its winemaker, John Duval, invite us to design his own label.” These were the words of Ian Kidd 15 years ago.

Since that time, we have been working closely with John and his team on all aspects of their packaging and branding. All have been under the care of senior designer and now director at KSD, Jason Spencer, whose beautifully crafted labels and intricate care to detail have befitted the JDW philosophy of perfection and made for a mutually fulfilling long term relationship. It all began with Plexus, described as ‘an intricate or interwoven combination of elements in a coherent structure’. To express this visually, we created geometric symbolism depicting the balanced interaction among the blended components.

From there the portfolio expanded to Entity, Eligo and more recently, Annexus which was aptly named being an addition to the range but a slight departure using a single variety of the Plexus blend from their best old yielding vineyards and made in small quantities only in the best years.

There are new wines on our drawing board to add to the expanding collection of JDW masterpieces.

We very much look forward to working with John and his son Tim for another 15 years.
