Clare’s newest addition

We were delighted to be approached by Tim Adams and his wife Pam Goldsack after his recent purchase of the old Leasingham property in the Clare Valley. It was a homecoming for Tim as he spent many hours as an apprentice under the guidance of the legendary Mick Knappstein learning his winemaking craft. And so was born Mr Mick, a new brand honouring his late mentor.

A visit confirmed that this was going to be something special. The potential of the site and the passion of the new owners were immediately evident so we set about answering the clear brief that epitomizes the philosophy of Mr Mick - “A brand for everyone”.

Research on Mr Mick and the site led us into a plethora of directions but ultimately we wanted a new and contemporary look that acknowledged the past but attracted a market that would respond to the fresher, easy drinking winemaking style and embrace the approachable atmosphere of the cellar door and casual tapas style restaurant ... aptly named Mr Mick’s Kitchen.

The project took us through designing the packaging, signage, stationery and restaurant collateral, all with the common theme featuring the brightly painted pipes in the landmark building that for some reason, someone had taken to with a pot of red enamel. They make a striking feature in the cellar door and gave us a strong and graphic link to build on. The pipe dream became reality!
A delight to work on with passionate clients, the result is a new and exciting experience for locals and visitors to Clare and all produced from brief to opening day in 3 months.

… And the soft shell chilli crab is worth the drive from anywhere!
